The starting point for The Fine Arts Showcase’s new album came late 2008 with the release of the vinyl 12” - ”Friday on My Knees”. The title track points out a somewhat new direction in Gustaf’s song writing.
“London, My Town” is a song about being fed up with the London lifestyle and the things that go along with it (i.e. chemical indulgence, folks caught up in being cool etc.). The Fine Arts Showcase main man Gustaf Kjellvander lived in Hackney, East London for three years with his then girlfriend Hanna before relocating back to Malmö, Sweden. It’s pretty safe to say that the song is autobiographical. It documents the breakdown of Gustaf and Hanna’s relationship.
