Järnmalm was formed in the year 2008/2009 by a bunch of old buddies who during the 90s – and 00s devoted themselves to all sorts of punk and metal. The members have a past in bands such as Varnagel, No Sense, Human Desolation and Nån Jävla Punk.
Sights were set on playing some sort of Swedish rock and the first songs that got scratched up were those who belonged to Tobbes soloproject from the year before. The bands common passion for the dark and gloomy then transferred the songwriting forward in the direction that came to be known Rysrock.
Synth-sound that found its way into the band's songs, came by pure coincidence. When they did their first gigs, even as a few months young band, Joel injured his hand and couldn't play guitar for a long time. Thus he picked up the synth. After experimenting out of its role in the songs it was decided that it would also be involved in recording the first demo "Trasdockor" made in spring 2009. Since then the band had some difficulties to depart from the component that made Järnmalm get their individual character and in the autumn when the first album was recorded ("Ur gruvan") the synth had an obvious place as an alternative instrument for Joel to play. The album started the band's collaboration with the iconic recordcompany from Stockholm called Beat Butchers and the album was released in January 2010.
After a bunch of gigs in the spring and summer, Beat Butchers published their first fully digital release, in the form of Järnmalm "Ti...

Stockholm quartet Järnmalms dark and melancholic, yet energetic and punky sound has been called rysrock.
It is an emotive fusion of the band's roots in rock and Swedish punk, with influences from both folk music
and metal. The difference from the previous release, Ur gruvan (Beat Butchers, 2010) is primarily that
the members now have had time to be inspired more by each other's ideas and expression,
and become more cohesive during the past year's appreciated live shows.
This time it was the more pop-oriented studio TM Production by Richard Nilsson (Musikkollektivet, among others) behind the controls.
The idea behind it was to give the material a more modern and progressive touch. The studio was tried out earlier in 2010
when the digi-single Till omvärlden (Beat Butchers, 2010) was recorded.
Skördar och sår contains six tracks of pure rysrock in Swedish. The concept is rocky guitars,
synthesizers, harmonies and Swedish vocals, this time spiced with guestvocals by
Daniel "Kabbe" Karbelius (formerly Sista Skriket, among others). The feeling that looms over the band's work is illustrated by Håkan "Doghead" Eklund,
who also stood for the cover graphics of Ur gruvan.

Unlike previous "Ur Gruvan" (miniCD) this threetrack-single is majory and airy,
and show up new dimensions of the band's characteristic rysrock in Swedish.
The new, fresh and catchy title track "Till omvärlden"
is backed up by two older songs that has been played frequently on stage.
The punkflirty and swinging "Baronkänsla" meets its overall contrast in the magical
and tranquil reflecting "Vaggvisa för en rastlös själ", which has become a bit of the audience's soft favorite.
"Till omvärlden" is the whole of what Järnmalm has done with its sign, the border country between energy and melancholy,
where the rock meets the synth and is combined with harmonies and exciting sounds.
