Important message to all Klicktrack users!

Dear Klicktrack user!

As we informed you when we merged with the digital distributor Phonofile our plan was also to merge our two systems into one and update the Klicktrack shop system.

We are getting close to the first step of this and we will launch a new label shop which you will be able to have on your Facebook page. Besides selling MP3s (320kbps) you can also sell FLAC files (CD-quality) there. If you want to check it out just click on the link below and you will get to a live beta version of it.
https://www.facebook.com/2L.music/app_433708673347545

If you wish to have one of these for your label you will have to sign up with Phonofile (since we are two different companies) and upload you content in their system. Later this autumn the whole Klicktrack portal store will also be using the new Phonofile technology and if you wish to stay on and sell your releases in the new Klicktrack portal store you will also have to make a deal with Phonofile. Then you can also use Phonofile for your digital distribution to Spotify/iTunes/etc if you wish and keep all your digital distribution in one place saving much time. More info about Phonofile can be found on the link below.
http://www.phonofile.com/?page_id=2
If you want to apply for an Phonofile account you can do so on this link:
https://login.phonofile.com/apply

The launch for the Facebook shop is planned for November 1 and the launch of the new portal store is planned sometimes between November 1 and December 31. If you have any questions regarding this just e-mail us.

Message for users of Klicktrack Aggregation Services

It is very important that you enter all info correctly and also not leave out any info if you are using Klicktrack’s Aggregation Services. For instance the fields “ISRC”, “Songwriter(s)”, “Publisher(s)” and “Author(s)” are required for each track and if you do not fill them out it means your release can not be distributed.

Klicktrack + Phonofile = No.1 music distributor in the Nordic region

After cooperating more than a year Klicktrack and Phonofile have now entered into agreement to merge the two companies. For all our excellent labels and artists this will mean that it will become even easier if they wish to add distribution to other download stores/services (iTunes, Spotify etc). Otherwise it will be pretty much “business as usual” at Klicktrack, ie delivering the best service possible.

Managing director in Phonofile, Erik Brataas says:
“Our ambition is crystal clear; we shall be the biggest and out of quality, best, digital distributor of music from independent labels in the Nordic territory. Establishing a Stockholm office has been on the wish-list for some time now and the merger with Klicktrack gives us access to key staff and additional technology which will strengthen our position. We have a good head-start through the existing agreements with Swedish rights-holders. With Daggan operating the Stockholm office and with the addition of Swedish owners and board-members we will be able to further raise the quality of our work for our Swedish labels by being present in the market and to domesticate our profile and availability to gain organic growth.”

Klicktrack founder, Daggan Stamenkovic, further comments:
“KlickTrack has made it possible for labels and artists to take control of their download sales from their own homepages in a very simple manner for the past 5 years and now with the merger we will also be able to offer our customers aggregation to all other download shops. Together we are now creating the biggest, and only, digital distributor/shop solution in the Nordic countries and I personally look forward to further develop our offering to become also the best at what we do”

Thanks for all the help with support matters!

I just wanted to post a short note to give a big heads up to you all labels/artists/managers that responds so quickly and swift to mails from us regarding support issues. Klicktrack are happy to have a smooth and well functioning system running but occasionally your/ our end customers experience problems with their downloads. It can be a damaged file or something missing in a release. Your quick and effective handling of such cases is much appreciated! In this way we can keep up a very good level of service and customers are happy to get their problems solved in an efficient way and will hopefully come back for more good music.
Thanks a lot!

If you want to sell lossless files

As you may know we changed the upload from MP3 to lossless (wav/aiff/flac) two weeks ago. The default setting is that your uploaded lossless files are converted to files for sale in 320 kbit MP3. (A pre-listening file is also done automatically by the system.)
If you want to sell a lossless file you should choose “Other” in the dropdown for “Type” at the Edit Tracks/Files page when publishing a release. (Again a pre-listening file in generated automatically by the system.)
In short:
Normally you choose “Track” and a MP3 is generated but if you want to sell lossless choose “Other” and you will have a wav for sale instead.

Create your own Voucher Codes!

New feature at Klicktrack!
We believe that voucher codes will be a great tool for helping you to sell more music. You can reward loyal customers with discounts or have periodical sales. You can also use it to send digital copies to the press & media which will make your life much easier. Please note that the “giveaway vouchers” are not for free while discount vouchers are.

Please read our manual to find out more about the Voucher codes!

Upload in lossless format!

Dear labels, managers and artists, in order to be an even better service partner we will change the format for uploading music to WAV starting Wednesday 18th of March 2009. As a convenience we will also support FLAC and AIFF since these are lossless formats too giving us the same possibilities as WAV. Please note that we will still sell MP3s in all shops as usual unless you decide differently. Your uploaded WAV files will be converted to MP3 and preview files automatically by our system.

Why are you doing this you may ask?
It is basically for two major reasons. By changing uploading format to WAV we will have the possibility to convert your tracks to any future format that you or your customer will ask for.
Secondly we are about to add aggregation to our offering and in this capacity it is necessary for us to have lossless files in order to distribute music to all the various digital shops and new services around the world.

Creating WAV files is as easy as making MP3 files, both iTunes and CDex supports it. The lossless files should be in standard 16-bit 44,1kHz stereo as on audio CDs.

We strongly suggest that you use our FTP server if you are uploading more than single tracks. To use the FTP you need an FTP-client such as Filezilla or SmartFTP. Use your ordinary login and point your FTP-client to www.klicktrack.com.

Nokia Music promotion campaign

This message is primarily for the Swedish labels that are participating in the Klicktrack deal with Nokia Music Store and Nokia Comes With Music Service.

Nokia has approached us about a series of “in store” events in connection with the launch of Comes With Music in Sweden. When they launch Comes With Music in April, they would like to have a few artists playing in some selected retail outlets where Nokia will be selling their new devices. Nokia are thinking of around 10 different artists at various stores throughout the country, with a focus on Stockholm, Göteborg, and Malmö. The events will take place on the 25th of April.
While there won’t be any direct payment, the artists participating will receive a CWM-enabled device, plus will be promoted on Nokia Music Store, and be part of the wider PR/marketing campaign that will be in full speed at this time.

If you are interested in the events please contact me at anders@klicktrack.com and I will pass it on to Nokia.

Also, Nokia are manufacturing at least 10.000 CWM-branded CDs to hand out to people at various concerts like the Melodifestivalen final, as well as having them in their retail partners’ stores.
In each CD they are going to include a voucher for a number of free tracks that the customer can redeem from the NMS (nokia music store).
I would like to know if anyone would like to contribute tracks to this promotion? It seems like a great way to get your music into a whole new audience, and they will be one of the main features in the store at a crucial time when the eyes of the world will be on NMS Sverige …

If you are interested to give away a track on the CWM-CD please let me know at anders@klicktrack.com and I will pass it on to Nokia.
