Upload in lossless format!
Dear labels, managers and artists, in order to be an even better service partner we will change the format for uploading music to WAV starting Wednesday 18th of March 2009. As a convenience we will also support FLAC and AIFF since these are lossless formats too giving us the same possibilities as WAV. Please note that we will still sell MP3s in all shops as usual unless you decide differently. Your uploaded WAV files will be converted to MP3 and preview files automatically by our system.
Why are you doing this you may ask?
It is basically for two major reasons. By changing uploading format to WAV we will have the possibility to convert your tracks to any future format that you or your customer will ask for.
Secondly we are about to add aggregation to our offering and in this capacity it is necessary for us to have lossless files in order to distribute music to all the various digital shops and new services around the world.
Creating WAV files is as easy as making MP3 files, both iTunes and CDex supports it. The lossless files should be in standard 16-bit 44,1kHz stereo as on audio CDs.
We strongly suggest that you use our FTP server if you are uploading more than single tracks. To use the FTP you need an FTP-client such as Filezilla or SmartFTP. Use your ordinary login and point your FTP-client to www.klicktrack.com.

Indeed, this is great news! Thank you KLICKTRACK for staying on the cutting edge of digital media! My customers will be very pleased with this new option to sell WAV format!

We are glad for all good reactions to this! To answer Bengt’s question above: no it is not necessary to re-upload if you want to continue to sell 320 kb MP3.

Yesterday I tried to upload new tracks for an album released today.
Since you have a limit for 100mb per upload, I could not upload this album.
Now that you have changed the format, you should increase the limit.
Since we many of our releases has songs over 10 minutes long they are often bigger that 100MB in wav format.
I don’t have an ftp server, so we won’t be able to sell our new release until it has been taken care of.

Hi Jonas,
You actually don’t need to have your own ftp server to upload to the Klicktrack ftp. You can use an FTP-client such as Filezilla or SmartFTP. Use your ordinary login and point your FTP-client to http://www.klicktrack.com. I use Cyberduck for mac: http://cyberduck.ch/ (this is a free open source client)
Cheers,
Anders
