The Swedish electro trio The Crashlanders is vocalist Erika Nyström and the two brothers Rasmus and Nils Petter Löfstedt on keyboards. The group has its roots in the Möllevången area in Malmö and their music is a mixture of eighties Italo disco and classic Swedish pop. The band has previously released the albums "Mellan nätter & begär" ("Between Nights & Desire") and "Dit konsten aldrig når" ("Where the art never reaches") and from these two records songs have been selected for the first release on the Electric Fantastic Sound label.

Erika explains it like this: "We picked the best tracks from these albums and let the other ones be. This collection is our way to say So Long to the old times and Hello to the new."

New material is being recorded and the new yet untitled album is due later this year. It is usually Rasmus that writes the music both other constellations are not uncommon – the vocalist Karin Ohlsson has contributed with both lyrics and vocals on some tracks. One thing has always been important; the feeling of making something personal. Rasmus says "I make a rough sketch of the song that I send to the others to get their input. Erika and Nils Petter makes their passes with the lyrics and then we just send the track back and forth until we're all happy with it. When all the pieces are in place we get together to record the final takes. It can take somewhere between a couple of hours up to three years to complete a track and there has always been a feeling of DIY in The Crashlanders and that's they way it will always be."

Despite the fact that the group sings mostly in Swedish they have reached as far as the USA and Australia with their previous albums, as well as most parts of Europe. The Crashlanders has been mentioned on numerous international music blogs and the French music collective Valerie put The Crashlanders track "Samantha" on one of its mix tapes.

The members of the group are all involved with other types of culture and Nils Petter has gained attention for his photo and film projects. He says "There is absolutely a connection between our music and our other interests: photo, film, graphic design and writing. We are very much involved with the DIY culture and we get the chance to explore different creative methods. And it's great for our wallets too – we are not quite financially independent yet."

The Crashlanders toured Sweden in the 2000's and created a name for themselves as an energetic and excellent live act but later came to a halt and changed the name to Jean! In the spring of 2011 they reclaimed their old band name and Erika explains why: "The name was originally a joke and we have this strange hate-love relationship to it but recently we discovered that we're quite fond of its quirky almost nerdy tone so we decided it fits us just right. Our inspiration is from different bands and genres and somehow we manage to blend it all together – sort of like a crashlanding in popular culture."
