  • Dextro's debut continues to bewitch and beguile with it's strangely familiar alien landscapes that meld the organic with the electronic. The results of which are are no more than apparent on this EP 'Hearts and Minds' which is taken from the subtle to the extreme, courtesy of remixes by three innovative artists hailing from three differing electronic fields.

The results are a respectful but heavy, krautrock inspired remix by the emerging Arkham, a gentle reworking by Anticon's Alias that marries the harmonies of the original to rolling bit crushed hip hop beats and lastly, a reinterpretation by Clark that rips apart the original with disregard in typical Warp fashion!

The full EP, released initially online back in April, will only be available in full (for download) from here and from our friends at Bleep.com who continue to support the Scotsman's output.

  • "Organic meets electronic in this highly palatable debut from newcomer Ewan Mackenzie, which aspires to the windswept upper slopes of ambient grandeur where Sigur Ros or Mogwai might pitch camp." Uncut
The results are beautifully structured, highly melodic and richly layered electronica that - while making nods to heroes Brian Eno, Neu and Phillip Glass and more contemporary artists such as Ulrich Schnauss and Boards Of Canada - is distinctly Mackenzie’s own.
With a series of remixes planned for 2007, and his own tracks being reinterpreted by leading artists from the field of electronica and dance, Dextro is set to be one of the electronic artists to watch for in 2007.
