  • The New Division began as a college dorm room project for songwriter John Kunkel back in 2005. After moving from Uruguay (where he resided for 18 years) to Southern California. Kunkel began experimenting with synthesizers after being heavily influenced by the sounds of Joy Division, New Order, and Depeche Mode. Originally, the name “New Division” was meant as an artist working title for songs that would never be released. Within a few months Kunkel developed a series of songs that attracted other fellow college students at California Baptist University. By the end of 2007, the one man New Division project had transformed into a four piece. Michael Janz (aka “Janzie” by friends) was the first member to be added after Kunkel discovered the two shared common interests in musical tastes. Shortly thereafter both began playing mini-shows in their college dorm which eventually attracted a number of students, including Brock Woolsey who would later be recruited for an on campus battle of the bands to play guitar. After succesfully acheiving first place, The New Division started gaining attention in their local city of Riverside, CA. They were asked to play at several local venues, including the well adored “Back to the Grind” coffee house. During one of their many shows at this location the band met Mark Michalski, who at the time was a dedicated fan of the group. Kunkel, seeing the need for an additional keyboardist recruited Michalski who later played an integral part in shaping...

  • Since their romantic ruin debut in 2007, with the album Generation destruktiv, Le Muhr have been digging deeper
into the desperation and boredom of after parties and toilet graffiti. It is hardly cheerful, but quite fun.
The result, the sequel Flickorna på klubben, is a study in general human gloom and a theme to the inner self of riot grrls,
eyeliner addicts, emo kids and even some punk rockers from the golden era. The Le Muhrs like to find new odd solutions.
The EP Flickorna på klubben, is partly financed by the crowd funding site fundedbyme.com and it can only be obtained digitally
together with the fanciest Tote Bag this year.

  • TrondheimSolistene and 2L allocated two weeks in 2011 to record a new album. Artistic director Øyvind Gimse and his collaborator Geir Inge Lotsberg initially chose two pieces that represent, in their estimation, "the most beautiful music ever composer for the string orchestra": Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence and his Serenade for Strings. Aiming for a 90 minutes program left 30 more minutes to record. So Øyvind, Geir Inge, the orchestra and 2L logged on to Facebook. They asked their audience worldwide what they'd like to hear. And the audience responded: Nielsen's Suite Opus 1. A little gem that would exploit the Trondheim Soloists' singular way with Nordic repertoire.

Inspired by Morten Lindberg's extensive work with choral music, the Tchaikovsky's SERENADE was recorded with the ensemble placed in mixed voices, a configuration in which no two players with the same part are seated together. It created a new and unique soundscape, caught on the album which is called - appropriately enough - SOUVENIR.

What we recorded in May 2011 is now published exclusively as high resolution audio files, by streaming and on vinyl. Then our recordings from October will add up to a full release on Pure Audio Blu-ray in May 2012.

TrondheimSolistene (The Trondheim Soloists) are regarded one of the top chamber orchestras in the world. Their DIVERTIMENTI and FOLK STYLE were both nominated for a total of five American GRAMMY Awards in categories "Best Small Ensemble", "Best Engineered...
