    Saxophonist and composer Bryan Murray's debut release on the Jazz Excursion record label, "What You Don't Forget" features an impressively broad and thoughtful collection of original music. Drawing from influences ranging from Chris Cheek to Merle Haggard, Murray's compositions have a haunting quality, and manage to be both musically reverent and innovative. The quartet also features an impressive roundup of some of New York's finest young musicians: guitarist Jon Lundbom, who has been collaborating with Murray for nearly ten years; bassist Michael Bates; and drummer Chris Carroll.
