    "Time Stands Still was a goddamn monolith of a record when it was first released, back in 1984. Two decades later, it sounds even better. By the point we’ve reached in the 21 Century, no one is surprised by the sounds of acoustic music emerging directly from the maw of punk, but 20 years ago that wasn’t the case. And Time Stands Still was an anomalous waft from one of the greatest punk maws ever.

    Members of the ensemble include Julie Christensen, Robyn from the Flesh Eaters, Dave Alvin and Bill Bateman of the Blasters (also ex-Flesh Eaters), John Doe from X (also ex-Flesh Eater), Chris Cacavas and Dan Stuart from Green On Red (whose debut LP Chris had produced), Jeffrey Lee Pierce of the Gun Club (whose debut LP Chris had co-produced), Kid Congo of the Cramps (also ex-Gun Club), Kerry McBride of the Juju Hounds (who had been in Johanna Went’s band with the Dream Syndicate’s Karl Precoda), Slim Evans of Rank & File and Texacala Jones of Tex & the Horseheads.
