    Some six hundred years before Christ the first lyric poet and songwriter known to the western world lived in ancient Greece:

    Sappho.

    Her songs were poems set to music and accompanied by a kind of harp called a lyre.
    She sang of love and the joy and pain of love, passion, beauty, friendship and when we hear the lyrics of modern songs, it seems that nothing has changed at all: Love Still Makes The World Go Round.

    The music has not survived and the bulk of Sappho’s poetry has been lost as well, all that is left of her poems are scraps and fragments.To set these words to music, we took musical fragments and built them into a house of sound. And Yannis with his marvellous voice breaths bright new life into Sappho’s verse.
