EN SE DE
  • This compilation contains 16 highlights of the group and two new songs newly recorded and never released before. Hedningarna's music has been described as follows; Put your ear to the ground - right on the spot where scuffy tree trunks turn into the austere morain of the pinewood. There you'll find a strange, yet unheard sound. Growling with urgency, as if sucked up directely from the all the pot holes, caves and tunnels of the underground. Bright voices of women murmur, holler - and even float around the irresistably buzzing bourdons. Ask yourself: what in the world?! It is Hedningarna, the truly original organism of the Swedish folk forrest. A world of sounds bedded beside all the others.

  • Hedningarna's Finnish singers find a lot of their material from Karelia which was annected by Russia for a long period. When they opened up the borders Hedningarna made a trip there and visited some of the old bearers of the special song tradition they practice there. A fantastic treasure of songs here in beautiful arrangements with Hedningarna's significant way of handling the music...

  • When the female singers had other things to do the original male members of the group made this mostly instrumental record except for some vocals by Finnish lapp Wimme Saari. Heavy and very dancy....

  • The second album from the group is developing the sound and was the break through outside Scandinavia. This record was nominated for two Swedish Grammy awards.

  • With an electrified goat stomach, homebuilt and electrified ancient instruments they took the world by storm with their version of Nordic folkmusic. Heavy and hypnotic with the two finnish female voices on top. This record is considered a mile pole in the history of Swedish folkmusic.
