This performance by Il Tempio Armonico is very rigorous in avoiding any false affectation and any verbose expressiveness in behalf of a tasteful and accomplished “return to the source”. Il Tempio Armonico, a well-known Italian ensemble devoted to the orchestral repertoire of European Baroque (with special attention to the glorious production flourished in the territories of the Venetian Republic), rediscovers the deepest essence of The Four Seasons with a performance that aims to “affect” rather than “effect”, based on the original manuscripts and carried out “a parti reali”, with arpa doppia and harpsichord as continuo. The outcome is a performance that succeeds in giving back the original freshness, charm and grace of Vivaldi’s masterpiece.
    The CD is enriched by two other Concertos by Antonio Vivaldi: Concerto Madrigalesco RV 129 and Concerto in C major RV 114.
