    The songs on “Shadows” are written, recorded and produced by Nilla Nielsen except for the song “Sky Blue” which is a cover of Peter Gabriels brilliant soundtrack to the movie “Rabbit-Proof Fence”. A song that has a very special place in Nilla´s heart:
    “I heard this beautiful song for the first time in Perth, Australia, when I went to see the fantastic film “Rabbit Proof Fence”. The film and the music touched my heart deeply. Two years later, when I was hospitalized after the tsunami, struggling to survive severe infections, the song “Sky Blue” was my mantra. I played it over and over again in my mp3 player and somehow it´s desolate and yearning sounds expressed and soothed my soul."

    Nilla Nielsen is a survivior of the tsunami. She wrote this beautiful song Himmelen måste saknat sin ängel (translated;Heaven must have been missing it´s angel), about the loss and longing for those missing in the tsunami. The song is dedicated to anyone affected by the tsunami. She performed the song at the memorial ceremony in Malmö 2005. Profits from this song will go to charity.

Finally….after such a long time of struggle and despair, big ups and deep downs, and “but hey I´m still alive and kickings,” I´ve finally recorded and produced the first single from my coming album. The song is called “Found You” and is a deeply heartfelt declaration of love. It is dedicated it to a very special person that I met in the traumatic storm of the tsunami... ” ...my heart wide open just where high water left it´s mark...”

    This is probably the happiest song on my coming album and I hope it leaves you feeling happy, hopeful.

    Nilla Nielsen is a singer/songwriter inspired in her expression by the likes of Daniel Lanois, U2, Bob Dylan, Alanis Morissette, Tracy Chapman and Joan Osborne. Her music puts great focus on melody, feelings and strong personal lyrics, always with a story to tell.


    The album Redemption Sky is made in close collaboration with producer Nils Erikson (who has been nominated twice for Grammis for his own solo albums). Together they create an exciting musical landscape with depth and spirit. The main part of this album is recorded in Nils´ studio in the countryside of Skåne and in Nilla´s Gecko Studio in a charming old house with wall paintings and hippievibes.


    The production is experimental, presence and feelings are almost tangible in these enchanting recordings. Mysterious samplings are mixed with acoustic instruments, raw guitars, harmonica and piano that together with Nillas warm soulfull voice draws the listener into a MAGICAL world.
