The new album “Higher Ground”from Swedish singer/songwriter/artist/producer Nilla Nielsen is here!
Sincerity and intensity are good words to describe the fourth album from this mesmerizing fairy. Nilla has produced the album and played most instruments herself.
She lets you in close, telling you stories from her heart, of break-ups and wonders. Her heart wide open when singing of complex relations like in painful yet beautiful “Man From The North” and the title track “Higher Ground”.
Nilla´s consistent involvement for a better world shines in the allegory “The UFO Song”/(The Guinea Pig Song) and the song “Hymn For Orangutan” (Lullaby For The Wounded) especially written for Lone Nielsen´s work to save the last orangutans and rainforest.
The production is close and personal, with roots in the acoustic storytelling universe with sometimes a quirky rock touch to it. Every story is given it´s personal space and sound whilst being colours in the same painting.
Influences can be heard from the likes of Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel, Alanis Morissette adn Tori Amos.
Earlier releases: “Redemption Sky” (2004), “Shellshocked” (2008), “Shadows” (2010). “Just Dance” (2010) (electronic popsingle with music video filmed under water. Popular on Youtube.) Nilla wrote the single “Himmelen måste saknat sin ängel” after surviving the tsunami in 2004.
