    Sweden's OK Star Orchestra returns with their third album entitled »The Beat and the Melody«. And
    it is a title that says quite a lot about the music. Beat AND melody.

    There are obviously some African elements in the music of OK Star Orchestra. But they mix it effortlessly with blues, jazz, rock and Nordic music. And this time they even include some Japanese sounds. Listen to their brilliant remake of the Sixties hit »Sukiyaki«!

    OK Star Orchestra has grown twice as big since the last album. The original trio was Tommy Galento, Mistah Christah Lyssarides and Perry Vallgren and now they are joined by Lina Langendorf (saxophon), Hassan Bah (kongoma) and Thomas Dawidowski (bass).

    The unique and absolutely brilliant OK Star Orchestra is back in business. Their second CD »Sound Classique« see them continue on the path they found on the first album »Cobra Sessions«. Laidback, smooth yet passionate instrumental music with obvious influences from African music. But, no. It's not African music played by a Swedish band. It's very much their own music, something very special and beautiful. After a few minutes you stop thinking about influences. You're lost in the music no matter if you're relaxing in your living room or dancing away to the strange beats of OK Star Orchestra.

    OK STAR ORCHESTRA is the result of a collaboration between three people with different musical background. Now this doesn’t mean that what we do is something very different or special or ”new”. Infact the outcome seem to be very old. We steal from our past and present with the result being something you hopefully will enjoy because it’s good quality. Whatever that means. We think that quality consists of catchy tunes, musical skills in the meaning of joy and ”feeling”, whatever that means, and a good time. Oh and i think we like old instruments too. And Tommy likes electronical stuff. He’d probably be offended if being forced to listen to youngster Perry’s interest in old timey music too much. And vice versa. Tommy claims though that he bought a cd with gypsie-popularmusic from romania, recorded in the 50’s and 60’s, recently. And Mistah Christah can’t stop talking about the old blues-gubbs n\' gals like Mississippi John Hurt and Memphis Minnie and stuff, although i think he mentioned that he and his wife acctually share a passion for Randy Newman. Isn’t that right Chris?
