  • The first album from the trio Rasmus Riis / Kasper Lysemose / Brian Agha, Enter, was released in the summer 2003. Now the trio has finished the long-awaited follow-up album Slowbop. Since the debut album the trio has refined their sound and on Slowbop they take the unique lyrical expression from Enter in new and more radical directions. On Slowbop the trio experiments with new forms, both with regard to improvisation and composition (most of the tracks on Slowbop are based on sketches). The contrasts are more extreme than before on this album that consists of part studio recordings and part live recordings from Copenhagen JazzHouse. The trio has invited guests Claus Højensgård (trumpet) and Albert Raft (tenor sax) to play on the title track.

"[...] a personal and daringly created record [...]. A trio who plays with a lyrical sensitivity in their open compositions and improvisations with calmness as an invisible partner [...]. The music of the trio is varied and organic. The interplay and the ideas that whirl up are marked by a balanced selfconsciousness."

  • This is vivid, picturesque music. The trio interacts in small, architectural pieces, leaving ample space for improvisation, and strikes out in bold new directions. Chance is crucial, as is the emphasis on personal, individual lines of musical approach. Both as a unit and as soloists, the trio offers much more than the typical "free play." In strongly lyrical compositions and highly competent musicianship, the ensemble engages us in a moving and convincing search for true essences. I highly recommend this album, and applaud their bold break with the conventional.

"The three musicians' compositions are excellent and nuanced and leave plenty of space for improvisation. [...] Here is intense communication and creativity - plus an almost unstoppable, lyrical undercurrent."
