  • Different than any other AMO album highlighting some quartet work, full ensemble treatments with longo solo spots for our guests and Latin tinged pieces all within the framework of Richie's writing, arranging and playing.

These eighteen tracks were recorded over two days in April 2006 following eight sold out sets at Jazz Standard in New York City and are dedicated to Richie's wife Risë (Ree-sah).

  • Alto saxophonist Richie Cole leading The Alto Madness Orchestra through ten of his new original charts. Bebop, ballads and swinging ensemble setting showcase Richie’s dynamic playing style. An album completely dedicated to his composing, arranging and conducting skills.

  • Recorded in Florida during the Summer of 1999, after a self imposed sabbatical, Richie introduces the Alto Madness Orchestra.

Through his experience with working with such greats as the Buddy Rich and Lionel Hampton Big Bands in his youth and working hard over the several years before this CD release, Richie developed a Big Band sound using only four horns instead of the traditional 12 to 15.
