  • A wonderfully, energetic, slick rock tracks that has all the essentials to make this an indie classic; back-to-basics drumming, electric piano stabs, a metallic sliding bass line and a David Bowie-like lead vocal.

  • Formed in 2004 The Cloud Room are J on guitar and vocals, bassist Jonathan Petrow, Jason Pharr on drums, guitarist David H and keys played by Steve Milton. Hailing from New York, and named after the speakeasy at the top of the Chrysler Building during American Prohibition, The Cloud Room became a buzz band across the Atlantic when their superb single "Hey Now Now" became a sensation on college radio and music blogs. Such was the underground hysteria of "Hey Now Now," it came to attention of Pepsi who have taken up the song and made The Cloud Room the first ever unsigned band to have their work featured in an international campaign.

The rest of the album is equal to "Hey Now Now" with tracks like "Blackout!," "Waterfall" and "Sunlight Song" displaying The Cloud Room’s ability to write every bit as good as Bowie or Roy Orbison, create lyrical content akin to Leonard Cohen or experimental soundscape ideas that could have been masterminded by Syd Barrett or Brian Eno – all of whom they count among their influences. The A&G release includes 2 special bonus tracks for the UK.

The Cloud Room have already toured with some of the most successful UK and international acts including Muse, Editors and Norah Jones. Welcome to The Cloud Room. Enjoy.

  • The Cloud Room are led by guitarist and singer J who founded The Cloud Room after moving from California to New York. In 2004, J suffered a health crisis, got a sore throat that proceeded to last unabated through the season and into spring. At the end of the fourth month, the spooked J got an HIV test. It came back positive. He tested again, at which point the doctor took a three week Caribbean vacation, safely locking the new results (negative) out of J's reach in her office. Distraught, J began working on songs, one of which was Hey Now Now; when he got the good news that his test came back negative, an overjoyed J decided to focus his energies on music.

The basic tune for Hey Now Now, in all its fetal-position primality, came together during the wait ("I wasn't sure where it came from, it sounded like a children's song," the author says). Conversely, the lyrics ("We're going downtown! We'll take the bus there! Pay the bus fare! And we'll find a new reason, a new way of living") tumbled out in the rush of joy that followed. The inrresistible Hey Now Now resulted in so much underground hysteria that Pepsi made The Cloud Room the first ever unsigned band to have their work featured in an ad international campaign.
