About You Now

The fact that "Facts and figures" doesn't sound like anything The Legends have released before will come as no surprise for those who have followed the band. There is one big difference from their previous albums though: On both "Up against the Legends" and "Public Radio" they only used a limited range of influences at the same time and created almost conceptually exact sounds. "Facts and figures" on the other hand is very playful. The Legends experiment with brand new sounds and combine them with every brilliant pop tune they've ever heard and every band they've ever listened to. Eclectic and truly amazing!
-
The most eclectic single from The Legends so far. In »Lucky star« they borrow bits from every corner of the musical history and turns it into a 2 minute pop smash. Contains two non album tracks; a splendid remix by Jimahl and the almost Sarah nostalgic, jangly pop gem "This heart's not made of stone".

The Legends revolt against themselves, again. The new single mix 90’s techopop, dark DAF bass-lines and bouncy electro with The Legends’ unmistakable feel for brilliant pop melodies. ”Play it for today/Blue lights” is a double A-side of the classic kind; two smash hits for the gay dance floor! While the rest of the world is busy catching up with The Legends’ 2nd album ”Public Radio” (to be released in the US in April) the band keeps working untiringly with their 3d album. The Legends are driven by a will to constantly challange themselves and their music. ”Public Radio ” was a reaction against the first album, ”Up against the legends”, and it’s direct pop songs. ”Public Radio” did in no way aim to please, The Legends wanted to make things difficult for their listeners. Now, the logic step is of course a revolt against ”Public Radio”. The Legends are writing hit melodies. And oh yes, they’re danceable tunes indeed.

The second single from the critically acclaimed album ”Public Radio” is arena rock transformed to gothic twee. Joy Division in anoraks could have been this brilliant! ”Public Radio” will be out in the US and the UK April 2006. Besides ”Hide Away” this EP offers four new, non album tracks. The SUGGESTIVE shoegazer ”Catch the ease” and three remixes. ”Les Espions”, known for his work with Club 8, does bubbling, dancey synth pop of ”Today” with a cool, stiff Kraftwerk groove. Jimahl is back and cuts ”Hide Away” in tiny parts and then puts it together as space funk. Sweden’s most popular EBM band, Project-X, has taken on the same song and creates something that resembles controlled chaos. This is probably the most insane recording ever released on Labrador. The Legends was formed in 2003 and released their debut album ”Up against the Legends” the very same year. The band was at the time a 9-piece delivering fuzzy guitar pop hits with Motown beats to the world… "A solid, surprising album whose rewards are commensurate with the time you spend with it." 8/10 --Pitchfork. "Indie pop in 2004 doesn't get any better than this" --All Music Guide. From the debut till now The Legends have transformed from a 9-piece band to a one-man project. At least officially. The truth is that both ”Up against the Legends” and ”Public Radio” were recorded, written, played and produced by Johan Angergård (also member of Acid House Kings and Club 8). ”Public Radio” echoes of the early 80’s and sounds futuristic at the same time. They mix influences from bands like New Order, Felt, Feelies and The Cure with their own pop aesthetics and turn it into something utterly wonderful and new. TRACK LIST: 01. Hide Away, 02. Catch the ease, 03. Today (Phone Edit by Les Espions), 04. Hide Away (You're high remix by Jimahl), 05. Hide Away (Mutilated by Project-X).

The Legends return in style! »He knows the sun« might very well be the song of the year. It manages to sound as if it was recorded in the very early 80's and it's highly futuristic at the same time.
