  • »We Made The Team« is the new mp3 single by The Radio Dept. The song has been a work in progress since july but the band´s recent visit to London inspired them to finish it and release it immidiately. It's a lazy skank, high on petrol fumes, scottish lager and cream tea. This autmn the Dept. will start recording their third album in Berlin and various South American cities, such as Lima and Sao Paolo. Stay tuned.

  • In the fall of 2005 The Radio Dept. threw away a practically finished album because it ?sounded very electronic and too many bands were doing that kind of pop already?. Six months of fighting in front of the computer and tearing on each other later they?ve finished their new album ?Pet grief?. An album that is everything we could ever wish for. ?Pet grief? is a completely different album than the debut ?Lesser matters?.Still, you?ll hear from the very first chord that you?re listening to The Radio Dept. The mood is darker, more epic, grander and even more beautiful than ever. ?Pet grief? is the best songs Pet Shop Boys never wrote and the album you?d hoped My Bloody Valentine did after ?Loveless?. The key to what makes it so special, what makes it all sound so much like The Radio Dept. might be the ever present melancholy that permeate everything they write. It?s been three years since the debut album ?Lesser matters? was released (two since it was released by XL in the UK) and even if the band has released two Eps, ?Pulling our weight? (2003) and ?This past week? (2005) since that ?Pet grief? is definitely the most anticipated Swedish album in a very, very long time. PRESS ?Lesser Matters? (debut album from 2003) 'The Radio Dept are almost angelic and accessible in spite of the dirty, rough-edged production.' (Time Out) '...these Swedes re-tweak the formula, sounding, if anything, better than Ride, Slowdive, Lush, Boo Radleys et.al.' (Uncut, 4/5) 'The Radio Dept. are like sonic candyfloss, melting away to leave something delicate and sweet' (Mojo) 'Lesser Matters is surely the most purely satisfying and occasionally heartbreaking indie-pop album of the year.' (The Sunday Times) 'The Radio Dept. are the sort of band who you wish you were in as soon as you hear them.' (NME, Single Of The Week for 'Why Won't You Talk About It?') 'This album is a miniature classic' (NME, 9/10)

  • The Radio Dept. ?Lesser Matters? is one of the most influential Swedish Pop albums of modern time. It was listed as the best album of the 21st century in the Digfi:mix book. And with two Single of the week in NME and the album in the top 10 list from the same magazine, it?s obvious the album is considered a classic internationally as well. On April 12 the insanely much-anticipated follow up is released. First single, ?The worst taste in music?. You?ll hear from the very first chord of ?The worst taste in music? that you?re listening to The Radio Dept. Still, something has definitely changed. The mood is darker, more epic, grander and even more beautiful than ever. Every single time they strike that lonely piano note it?s a drama in itself. Maybe you hear this 10 times a day?but this might very well be the single of the year. This EP includes three exclusive tracks. Two remixes by Flo Flux Clan and Differnet respectively, and the brand new song ?What you sell?. 19 min of brilliance!

  • The Cricket described it so well, there’s no need for us to re-write it. Only translate:

"Something has happened with The Radio Dept. They no longer need walls of distortion to express themselves, but keep the sounds quiet, put their trust in the unbelievably beautiful song writing and in this way manage to get through so much stronger."

Five brand new songs in digipak.

  • Debut album from Sweden's The Radio Dept. Brilliant breathy melodies and punchy rhythms cascade over a foundation of fuzz and feedback. Their sound is refreshingly classic, rooted in c86 and early 90s shoegaze, yet their style is crisp and modern. "Against The Tide" and "Where Damage Isn't Already Done" are the perfect meeting of The Field Mice and early Primal Scream, while "Why Won't You Talk About It" reminds us of "Psychocandy" era Jesus & Mary Chain. "Strange Things Will Happen" shows a more dance-y side & features a female lead vocal reminiscent of Northern Picture Library.

  • The Radio Dept.'s debut on Labrador Records. Earlier this year they released the wonderful »against the tide« EP on their own label Slottet. This one is even better. It's the perfect mix between early The Jesus and Mary Chain and Saint Etienne they say.
