    The Setting Son are now ready to release the follow up to their self-titled debut album which was released two years ago. The album is called “Spring of Hate” and will be released 20.04.09.

    The sound on “Spring of Hate” is quite different compared to the debut album. Main songwriter Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen has obviously grown older and found a steady group of band mates that makes “Spring Of Hate” sound more like the work of a band than Sebastian with a hired backing band as was the case when the first album was recorded.

    The songwriting of Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen has become more varied this time. “Soulmate”, the first single from the album, is a catchy song with an amazing chorus that goes straight to the brain as the perfect blend of psychedelic pop and garage rock. “Girl of Sorrow” showcases the melancholic side of the band while “I Lost Control” is desperate and angst-ridden.

    The references to garage rock from the 60's, psychedelic pop and surf are clear but it seems that The Setting Son have their own take on neo-psych anno 2009. The strange but addictive vocals of Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen just underline that fact. “Spring of Hate” is produced by Lorenzo Woodrose in Black Tornado and is mixed by Johan Gellett at Studio 73.

    The Setting Son – Soulmate

    “Soulmate” is the first single outtake from the upcoming The Setting Son album “Spring Of Hate”. The sound on “Soulmate” and the rest of the album is quite different compared to the debut album that came out 2 years ago. Main songwriter Sebastian T.W.     “Soulmate” is a catchy song with clear references to the 60´s and an amazing chorus that goes straight to the brain as the perfect blend of psychedelic pop and garage rock. The second track on the single is “Girl Of Sorrow” which shows a different and more melancholic side of the band.

    “Soulmate” will be available as download 02.03.09 while “Spring Of Hate” is due out 20.04.09 as LP/CD and download. The album is produced by Lorenzo Woodrose in Black Tornado and is mixed by Johan Gellett at Studio 73.

    Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen is the young and shy brainchild behind The Setting Son. This unusual talent has composed more than 50 songs and recorded them on his small 4-track taperecorder in his flat in Copenhagen. These demos turned out to be brilliant and a batch of songs was later recorded by a full band and ended up as the debut album by The Setting Son.

    The trademark sound of The Setting Son is bubblegum psych with strong melodies and hooks galore. Some songs are rather angry and desperate while others are melancholic and sensitive. What ties it all together is Sebastians naive approach to the material that makes it sound blue eyed and fresh. Not to forget his snotty vocals that is highly addictive once they get under your skin.

    The untitled debut album is produced by Lorenzo from Baby Woodrose and is recorded and mixed in 9 days at the Black Tornado studio in Copenhagen in December 2006. The result is 14 songs in a little over 30 minutes and was originally released on LP and CD.

    The debut album by The Setting Son was produced by Lorenzo from Baby Woodrose and was recorded and mixed in 9 days at the Black Tornado studio in Copenhagen in December 2006. The result was 14 songs in a little over 30 minutes and the album is set for release September 3rd 2007. In A Certain Way was chosen as the first single and will be released as limited edition 7” vinyl and CD single. 7” has the exclusive “I wish” on the b-side while CD single contains the album track “I’m A Loser”.
