  • Varnagel was active between 1999 and 2008. In spring 2008 they played their last gigs in front of an incredibly passionate audience. When the news got out about Varnagel laying down their weapons, in the beginning of 2008, there were many who rightly became confused and shocked. But the bands attitude has always been that it´s all or nothing and it was time to stop. For one last night they would meet their fans and varnagel set out to deliver every last drop of energy they had left. Their last gig was immortalized and released as a memory and as thanks to those who were there as well as a small taste to the rest of the world. A taste of Varnagel doing what they loved the most, performing on stage, in front of fantastic people and see them sweating out their anger, joy, sorrow and finally explode like crazy.

  • “Sista Biten” was set up as a farewell gift to fans on their last show in 2008. It´s basically a bunch of old tracks that was never released. Some of the songs are tracks that was recorded during intense studio periods but in the end didn´t work out for the current album. Some of them are first-version cuts and demos. There are also live material and covers on the album. The first track, “Bittra Berg” is the last song Varnagel ever wrote and it shows you a bit of the direction the band was heading after their last album “Vill Ha Mer”

  • Varnagel started their rampage by doing what all other smaller band were doing during the 90´s, recording songs and releasing it on cassettes. Between 1999 and 2001 they made three more or less home-made, home-produced demo tapes, “En Ny Tid” (1999), “ledarskap, karriär och kompetens” (2000) and “Marknadsromantik” (2001). All cassettes contained six songs each and the B-sides had all the songs again so you didn´t have to rewind. When the reviews on “marknadsromantik” came out people started to wonder why the band still would persist in giving out tapes when CD-R already was well known? Anyhow it became their last cassette and on this collection you´ll find all three demos.
Musicwise it´s all coming from a very young and sprawling Varnagel that spits their inspiring melodic punk all over the place. Some of the best tunes from this period are on this album.

  • Underground hit “Frihet För Få”, is an abundant major-beat track but also an exeption in this six-tracks release. “Andra Klass” (Second Class) as a whole is a more reflective, dark and emotional album than it´s predecessor, “Offentligt Häckleri”. Varnagel is now known for the heavy and personal lyrics accompanied by less explored and not that common minor tunes, tough, strong and captivating beats. This album shows off a serious and melancholy side of the band and at the same time it leaves you with a burning fighting spirit that keeps you going. According to fans, this is the best album Varnagel ever made.

  • In the year of 2003 swedish punk had it´s 25th anniversary and a lot of the old school band reunited and started playing again. The punkscene in Sweden was withering and great bands, one after the other like DLK, Dia Psalma and Radioaktiva Räker split up. In this vacuum Varnagel beating down like a bomb and blew life into the scene for a new, hungry and angry generation of punks. A new generation that had no direct relation with “Grisen Skriker” or “Attentat” but who understood that Asta Kask had a significant role in the growth of the Swedish punk scene to come.
This is Varnagel´s debut album, and was ironically introduced on the last “Defenitivt 50-spänn” compilation album, which was the dominating punk compilation series during the 90´s. The end of an era started another one with Varnagel and “offentligt Häckleri” who performed faster, more energetic, with a compact political form of punk music.
