  • After 5 years, 20 releases and countless live shows all around the world, we thought it's time for a special label project, and asked a whole bunch of artists to have a take on the mitek catalogue.

Also during the years we've made many many friends all over so why not invite some of them and get a more "international" touch .. so we did and what we got is stunning - what we got is 27 artists and 28 tracks, ranging from minimal sound-scapes via electronica to club appealing tracks, most of them reworking the mitek catalogue, taking snippets here and there, creating something unique, a new and fresh take on the older material .. Like Son of Clay creating a low-key and beautiful piece out of Mikael Stavöstrand's "Lite", Jeff Milligan with his minimal and fluffy rework on of Son of Clay, Folie with his own special touch, taking every 4th bar out of "XX" you have a guess which one .. Midaircondo with a stunning take on Sophie Rimheden and so on..

Each track with a different approach in its style and method, a really good overview of what is going on at the moment, with artists from Sweden, Norway, Iceland, England, Denmark, Germany, England, Mexico, Canada and the US.

  • Mitek continues to present a wide range of clever electronic music, with mitek: process, 13 tracks of the most talented and interesting contemporary artists from Sweden. mitek: process, comes from the idea of bringing the mitek related artists closer, to get a possibility to ?collaborate? and to inspire each other. The artists worked from a soundbank of whom all the artists contributed sounds. We did not felt that the concept should be restraining the artists to such as following specific rules; instead it was a possibility to share and use each others unique sound styles. We think the result speaks clear, each artist have approach the task with open mind, and still you have his or her special sound. Like Sophie Rimhedens catchy ?Wild at heart?, or Martin Jarl's up-tempo tech hybrid ?Sound & Computer?. The same base, but very different result, each unique to the artist.

    MITEK02

    Artist: Various

    Label: Mitek

Four Swedish artists on one album of minimal dub techno. Three established artists and one rookie. Andreas Tilliander, who has released albums on Mille Plateaux, Raster-Noton and Komplott, provides the first track: the 15 minute long Downer, a masterpiece of slow, noisy dub. Grecl follows with four comparatively short tracks in the click+cuts vein, faster and more prominent bass lines. After Grecl comes one lovely tune by Silent Comfort, also known as Bauri and Deltidseskapism, etc. Sc-2 takes its time to build an extremely nice atmosphere, a juxtaposition between determined and vague elements at the same time. Lastly, two tracks from label boss himself, Mikael Stavöstrand, who previously have released albums on Staalplaat and Force Inc. His tracks are the most diffuse on the compilation, and have a lot in common with Vladislav Delay's slow works. Reslab is a must have for anyone into labels such as Basic Channel, ~scape or Mille Plateaux. // Henrik Stromberg, Igloomag/Groove
