  • Ive heard that the second album is always a tricky thing to make and I have to admit that I agree. Sirkus was a hard record to make but it wasnt because I didnt know what songs I was going to use or how they would sound. It was a hard record to make because of practical things that sometimes interferes with the creative process such as money and time. We started recording in August last year and we were done just before Christmas. I wanted to make an album that felt a bit like the Circus arranged in two acts: first act is the songs 1-7, track 8 is an instrumental part and track 9-15 is the second act. We recorded most of the songs live and I wanted the album to feel like a show of some kind with many different stages and characters.

  • Debutalbum from Gustav & the seasick sailors! 'a band of drunken gypsy pirates. They play a woozy sounding rock that reels and rolls with the waves.' (swedesplease.blogspot.com)

The last piece of this puzzle was made one day when me and Martin sat in the studio, mixing and finishing the album. All the tracks were made and I was pleased. We heard rocks hitting the window and looking out we see four bohemian, gypsy-looking people waving at us. One of them says: Hi! Im Tomas Rundquist, I heard you were making an album! Can I play? I let them in, we started to talk and it turned out he was a brilliant guitar player, Django Reinhardt style! The problem was that I didnt have any room for him, the songs were already made. Although the same morning I had written the beginning of the song Lovely G, he loved it so we finished it together and recorded it the same day.

The Vagabonds Polka album is about ten different women and they have all got their own song. Thats all I am going to say about that.
