Since its formation in 1995 XASTHUR gifted humanity with 8 full length albums and a relevant serie of split albums, eps and minis.
Malefic, the only human spirit behind this unearthly musical experience, left a mark on the black metal history like few others did, and in particualr together with other landmate bands like LEVIATHAN, ABSU and JUDAS ISCARIOT made the American Black Metal movement as credible as their european counterpart was.
His career was also enriched by well known guest appearances with Sunn O))) before taking some time off and putting Xasthur, at least for the moment being, on hold.
“Nightmares at Dawn” is not a new album by Xasthur indeed, but its importance and value is quickly evident: this album features 14 songs that Malefic has written and recorded between 2004 and 2009.
They are FIRST TIME unreleased and, besides a few reinterpretations of older Xasthur classics, the most recent compositions of him, before quitting the project, for close to one hour of Xasthur inferno....
