Watch out, it’s pop music on Pingipung: On "Randnotizen from Idiot Town" we hear club music in combination with vocals and handplayed instruments in a straighness which is unusual for the Pingipung catalogue so far. But this gorgeous album has convinced us as the individual product of a band collective around DJ Patex from Hamburg. She adds a spontaneous, rebellious zest to the songs, in which not every single sound is polished to perfection, although the record took over five years in the making. On this record not all is as it seems on first sight: DJ Patex’ lascivious voice lulls the listener, just to pull the rug from under us with her pointed punchlines in the next moment. "Another One Bites the Dog" represents the more discoursive side of the record while "A Night in Berlin" ("You look so good - when you’re not on the dancefloor") is ironic and funny.
