Sir Gant, aka, Dean Gant has completed his first solo disc, THE JOURNEY, on which he incorporates the wide-ranging skills he has developed over the span of his career as an elite producer, composer, keyboardist, and arranger.
To showcase his own music in its best light, Sir Gant assembled a formidable roster of musicians for The Journey. Their collective bodies of work appear throughout the global market of popular, R&B and jazz hits. Among the stellar musicians are, Marcus Miller, Gerald Albright, Paulinho da Costa, Steve Ferrone, Al McKay, Omar Hakim, Nathan East, Ricky Lawson, David T. Walker, Rahmlee Michael Davis, Dr. George Shaw, Charles Owens with the string arrangements of the legendary Benjamin Wright. The vocal stylings of Marc Nelson (founding member of Boyz II Men) and Tim (Tio) Owens (featured singer with the Al McKay All Stars) grace three tunes on the The Journey. Grammy winning engineer, Neal Harrington Pogue was brought on as co-producer to ensure technical balance and musical integrity of the project.
Sir Gant exudes pride in the accomplishment of his debut project stating, “The Journey has been a long time in the making. It represents the maturation of my emotions and my musicianship. I’ve drawn upon the artistic influences of my mentors, like Herbie Hancock as a pianist and Quincy Jones as a producer, and incorporated all the musical foundations I’ve developed along the way. The common thread is quality music.”
The Album begins with his solo pe...

Mo Pleasure returns with his first solo offering in four years with Elements Volume I: Eclipse, a limited edition five song EP. From the ether that permeates our entire earthly experience, to the fire that generates heat, to the water that gives life and quenches thirst, to the very earth that sustains us, down to the air that we breathe, the Elements are nothing less than essential to the human experience.
This special, limited edition EP offers the listener a taste of the elements that captured Mo’s artistic imagination many years ago. The songs on this special offering were selected with the intent of representing all five elements musically – fire, water, air, earth and ether.
R U Down, featuring vocals by the late, great Ali Woodson, represents fire. Ali’s impassioned vocals over such a hot track aims to give you the right amount of heat before cooling you down with Water, as represented by H2O, featuring lead vocals by the incomparable Maysa Leak.
The song, described by Pleasure as “Joni Mitchell folk meets Sarah Vaughan-esque phrasing,” pays homage to the force of love, comparable to rushing waters that swirl about smoothing heartache as though it were a stone in a stream.
The next element to receive Pleasure’s thoughtful treatment is Air, exemplified by a track featuring the dynamic vocals of Tony Terry. Pleasure imbues the instrumental with an abundance of space, underscoring the statement that less is more, while Tony Terry’s vocal sends th...

The youngest person ever inducted into the Pittsburgh Jazz Hall of Fame, bassist Richie Goods got an early start playing at clubs while still attending the Pittsburgh performing arts high school, CAPA.
After graduating from the prestigious jazz program at Berklee College of Music, Goods moved to New York City, where he studied under jazz luminaries Ron Carter and Ray Brown. Goods made a name for himself through recording and touring with a variety of jazz and popular artists ranging from Louis Hayes and the Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band, Mulgrew Miller, Russell Malone, Milt Jackson, and Stanley Turrentine to Brian McKnight, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, Whitney Houston, and Christina Aguilera.
Goods’ lengthy discography even includes Grammy award-winning and platinum albums of Alicia Keys and Common. Most recently, Goods has become the new bass player for the world-famous Headhunters. When not on tour, he can be found in his studio, producing records for his company, RichMan Productions, Inc. His latest project is his debut solo album with his Fusion/Funk band, Nuclear Fusion, recorded live at New York City’s famous Zinc Bar.

Internationally acclaimed as one of the "Best Albums of 2009"; a favorite of independent broadcasters from the Heartland of the USA to the soulful streets of London; and beyond! With this, his second recording, as a leader, Tony Bunn has developed a sound and a style that point to a completely new direction for Jazz; one with echoes of a rich past, as it boldly heads toward a glowing future.
Visionary. Extreme Bassist. Inventor. Mathematician. Rocket Scientist. Criminal who aspires to Sainthood. Continuously Regenerative Musical Outlaw. Taoist Sub-master. Jazzman. Rocker. Sexual Healer. Madman!
Tony has always been successful at somehow magically slipping out of the boxes in which others would attempt to confine him. During his first professional tour of duty, as the electric bassist for Sun Ra's Arkestra, he was dubbed one of "Them Freedom Boys" by the Dark Master himself. No truer words were ever spoken. And that comment was to be understood to be not such a good thing --- for freedom lacking discpline results in slavery. Freedom informed by discpline becomes magical life, i.e. LOVE. Since that initiation, truly a trial by fire, Tony has spent his life developing the spiritual and mental discpline necessary to broadcast LOVE throughout this shared existence.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, who began his journey into musicality in the fourth grade, he recalls, "I wanted to play saxophone like Maceo (Parker). I loved his sound with James Brown. However, the only...

Independent Singer and Songwriter Bashiyra brings a wealth of captivating artistry to the music industry, having performed backing vocals for artists such as Patti Labelle, Michael Bolton, Diana Ross and Queen. In 1993 Bashiyra enjoyed Top 10 success with her release 'I Will Always Love You', a Reggae single on the Jet Star Reggae Distribution Chart which led to several personal appearances in the UK, including London's Apollo Theatre and major music venues in Philadelphia, USA. Whilst experiencing this solo success, Bashiyra was approached and engaged as a songwriter, by the production and songwriting team of 'Gamble and Huff', the US based producers for the likes of Stephanie Mills.
Later on in 2003 Bashiyra also co-founded the creative arts organization 'ITA' which was set up to encourage people of different cultures to learn about each other through music, song and literacy arts. That same year saw another release and chart success in Europe with the single 'Island In The Rain' followed by the release of 'U Know I Love It', on the album 'Wowie Zowie' by SuperChumbo aka KISS FM DJ Tom Stephan in 2005. Projects later that year took her to Europe and Africa, where her talents were demonstrated on both stage and studio to delighted audiences young and old. In June 2005 Bashiyra performed at The Hackney Empire at 'The Festival of Black Female Voices', where she won the nomination for 'Aspiring Black Female Singer 2005', which recognised the substantial contribution made...

Marilyn Ashford-Brown isn't at all moved or caught up in the glamour of the business. She just simply wants to sing, doing what she loves doing more than anything else in the world. She once read a quote from actor, Harrison Ford, which has stayed with her for many years. It stated: "It's the people who get on the bus, and stay on it, who are successful, not the ones who get off".Well, she has been on the bus for almost three decades. The passengers who started the journey with her, got off early, but, she stayed on, and the ride has been much too long to turn back now.
Soul Tracks September 2009
No matter what folks may have you believe, there is actually no such thing as an 'overnight success.' For every comedian who gets that career-defining film cameo, there are others who are just as hilarious and camera-ready still struggling in the clubs. For every performer who's debut release hits number one, there are peers who are equally as talented, yet don't get their shine until that well-produced or better-promoted sophomore set. Exemplifying this reality is singer and songwriter Marilyn Ashford Brown, whose third CD, Just Doing Me!, finally packages her gifts in the crisp, contemporary wrapping that they deserve.
Melody Charles, SoulTracks
Washington Post September 2009
THE WASHINGTON POST SAYS "Marilyn Ashford Brown isn't the sort of R&B vocalist who need to rely on songwriters for inspiration, and her output almost always seems tailor-made to suit her talents an...

Adrienne Townes is a woman that once you have met, you will never forget. She grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a theater brat and the daughter of a locally renowned actress, singer and television star, Joan Coursey. She naturally inherited her mother's good looks, stage presence and articulation but her singing voice is totally her own. The Arena Players, the oldest black theater in the United States is where she started singing and acting in plays and musicals. She also grew up performing in the church.
Adrienne continued acting and singing throughout her teen years and into adulthood. In college, she minored in voice. She used her motivating spirit to form a band to showcase her voice and walk away with the title of the first Black Miss Frostburg State University. Since that time she has done numerous national commercials and also been in several movies.

The first solo CD by Swedish bassplayer Johannes Zetterberg. West Coast fusion in the vein of Dave Weckl, Yellowjackets, Karizma etc.
Featuring: Aron Mellergårdh (Drums); Jay Oliver (Keyboard); Erik Linder (Guitars); Jens Filipsson (Alto Saxophone); Jonathan Fritzén (Keyboard); Jonas Isaksson (Guitar); Eric Marienthal (Alto Saxophone); Arvid Svenungsson (Keyboards); Calle Stålenbring (Guitar); Jason Rebello (Keyboard); Andreas Ekstedt (Percussion); Otmaro Ruiz (Keyboard).
Johannes Zetterberg was born November 17th, 1985, in Stockholm, Sweden. Born to musical parents, he was exposed to a lot of music at an early age.
"Well, being that my father's a countertenor with a soft spot for Oscar Peterson, I guess I quickly learned to appreciate classical music & jazz. On the other hand, there were groups & artists like Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, Toto, Chicago & lots of others, whom I found on my mother's mixtapes. It was like discovering a gold mine with all kinds of cool music, ranging from the hits of the 60's to the boy bands of the 90's! So yeah, it got pretty diverse right from the get-go."
He started playing the bass at twelve, and fell in love with the instrument right away. Around the same time he got introduced to Metallica & Yngwie Malmsteen by a friend, and that would turn out to widen his already eclectic taste in music, adding to the mix groups like Testament, Slayer, At the Gates, Opeth & The Haunted.
2009 sees the release of hi...

Presentation prior to the release:
While Devoted Spirits are in the lab working on the next generation of music from the Rock/R&B/Funk band, the first single, "This Generation," is now available. The original song, penned by the band's Sheldon Reynolds along with Earth, Wind & Fire's Ralph Johnson, has swiftly attracted the attention of online and terrestrial radio stations at home and abroad. The track, which will appear on the band's second album, The Answer, will be released in January in Japan by B-Emotion with plans for a U.S. release on the Immerse Yourself label in the works.
Produced by Reynolds, "This Generation" features an anthem-like arena rock chorus, jazzy scat vocals, a funky groove and inspirational lyrics calling for social responsibility. Reynolds deployed fiery guitar riffs, keyboardist Larry Dunn laid down a smokin' solo and Rhonda Smith (from Prince's band) thumped the bass.
Devoted Spirits is Reynolds (guitars, vocals, keyboards, drum programming), Dunn (keyboards) and Morris Pleasure (bass, keyboards, trumpet, flugelhorn). All three are former principal members of Earth, Wind & Fire, with Dunn being an original member. Last year, Devoted Spirits debuted with the critically-acclaimed A Tribute To Earth, Wind & Fire (Thump Records Classic R&B/Experience Hendrix), a 21-song salute to their roots comprised of imaginative interpretations of the legendary R&B/pop group's hit songbook along with one original composition ("Rhythm Of Love"). How's this to let a girl know what road to take! Angel's very first recording on the Dizzy Gillespie CD, "Closer To The Source", was nominated for a Grammy award. Her road has taken turns leading her to work with such heavy hitters as Quincy, Michael Jackson, Chaka Kahn and Celine Dion. She's toured with Bruce Springsteen, Steven Segal and Mary J. Blige. Her TV credits include film soundtracts such as "Fried Green Tomatoes and the special "Out All Nite" Pattie Labelle. She's even made a couple of film appearances one being the up and coming film with Denzel Washington, "American Gangsters". Angel has accomplished a lot over time but she says, "nothing feels as good as doing it on your own. Doesn't matter if it's major or Indie. In fact, it feels even better going Indie because you get to call your own shots. It is very important to keep growing as an artist. That fact makes me sleep better at night!."

Certainly one of the best soul vocalist in Denmark, DANIEL is one of the hottest lead singers in Copenhagen and all over Scandinavia, and not only through his two albums and numerous singles but also as the lead vocalist for two seasons of the hit TV series Dancing with the stars.

Window Shopping, released in early 2006, employed the talents of acclaimed contemporary jazz guitarist and producer Ken Navarro. A mutual friend was responsible for the creative pairing when she suggested Ken contact Jack for some ideas on Internet radio resources. A longtime admirer of Ken’s work, Jack was thrilled. The two had a real connection right away, and as Jack was beginning preliminary work on Window Shopping, he asked if Ken might be interested in contributing a song or making an appearance on the album. Ken was more than interested, and in addition to producing the CD, he provided all the guitar tracks as well as an original composition entitled “Bright Spot.” “It was great working with Ken on this project and drawing on his experience not only as a musician and producer, but also as a label owner and an icon in this genre for years,” says Jack.
An unpredicted firestorm of accolades followed the release of Window Shopping. A 2006 top ten with Smooth Jazz News, Window Shopping would also find itself a favorite on several other year-end lists and reviewers.
“I’m very flattered by being included in these lists and owe a lot of thanks to my fans,” said Jack. “Window Shopping has opened up so many doors for me. The band and I are really psyched about 2007 and look forward to reaching out to an even larger audience.”
What the critics are saying about Window Shopping:
“It’s jam packed full of talent with its highlight being some of the hottest, most sophisticated sax playing around today.”
- Susan Lozinak, Jazz Review
“…sophisticated arrangements, creative improvisation and stellar musicianship.”
- Ian Cooke, ContemporaryJazz.com
“…one of the most refreshing, stylish and urbane new CDs we've heard this year.”
- Sandy Shore, SmoothJazz.com
Jack is currently endorsed by Yamaha saxophones and SD Systems microphones. As an endorsee and clinician, he has performed clinics and concerts throughout the United States as well as Mexico and countries of the Pacific Rim.

Earth, Wind and Fire's Ralph Johnson comes forth with his smooth jazz solo project, aided by Morris Pleasure on piano and bass (Earth,Wind and Fire, Janet Jackson, Boney James) and Steen Kyed on acoustic guitar. Special guests include George Duke, Philip Bailey, Howard Hewett and Jonathan Butler. Smooth Jazz with an R&B edge and World Music diversity. TRANSOCEANIC is an expansive, deep album of premium-quality tracks from Earth, Wind and Fire drummer/vocalist Ralph Johnson, keyboardist/bassist Morris Pleasure, and Danish guitarist Steen Kyed, together known as Audio Caviar. Now those key points alone should be enough to pique your interest in this fascinating and extremely satisfying musical odyssey. Add Philip Bailey's exquisite voicing on the beautiful and sensuous "Dominique" (the first radio single), George Duke's incredible performance on the lush "The Island," Jonathan Butler's superb vocal work on the entrancing "Legends of Ratava," and Howard Hewett's soulful reading of "Love Comes in Time" and the result is an amazingly warm and exciting package of music. The ties to Earth, Wind and Fire are unmistakable and bring a comfort level and familiarity to the whole sound and feel of this project. You can probably tell that I'm impressed with this recording. I love the depth and richness of Audio Caviar's music, but I'm also totally into the positive, spiritual vibe that comes through clearly in every performance. The group came about from Ralph's and Morris' April, 2000...

Pauline Hallink has been active in the world of jazz now for 14 years. Mrs. Hallink is not only a jazz singer, but also a full-time flight attendant for KLM. Her initials, PH, coincide with the registration code of the Dutch airplanes, hence the name of her backing group PH5.

What it takes to make a great record, especially if it's a debut album? Probably a lot of things, but you should count on having a plenty of resources in one's mind and ability to use most of them at the right time, know-how capability and, of course, enough talent to pull everything together. Well, Dimitar Bozikov happens to be one of that rare breed on today's contemporary scene and surely deserves as much wider exposure as possible. Macedonia is well known for its rich musical heritage and talented musicians and Dimitar has probably the best export potential of them all, and "Guitarland", if there's any justice in music world, should open a lot of doors for him. This is expertly executed instrumental music with brilliant skill of composer and performer whose future seems bright and I'd like to quote my friend, great organ player Jon Hammond who said: "The fingers are the singers"!

"Mind Expanding Soul/Jazz/Funk/Rock/Gospel"
By Bob Davis (Soul-Patrol) 2005.03.20
I have been a frustrated EWF fan for many years. I have always felt that they along with Kool and the Gang & the Commodores led the way for the commercialization of funk music back in the 1970's. In doing so all three groups literally broke my heart as each succeeding album brought their fierce and inspirational music closer and closer to being "elevator music". I am not alone in this feeling. Over the years many "children of the 1970's" have written in and expressed similar feelings of disgust about all three groups. In fact the criticism of Kool and the Gang & the Comodoores has been absolutely scathing over the years. However I have always thought that EWF (for reasons) that are beyond me has mostly gotten a "free pass" on this whole issue. For me the "sellout" of EWF was always the most heart breaking of the three. That's because of the high minded jazz/soul/rock/afrocentric ideals that the band seemed to stand for when I first got hip to them in the early 1970's. I have NEVER forgiven them for abandoning those ideals in the mid 1970's.
Enter Mr. Sheldon Reynolds, EWF's lead guitarist during the 1990's, founding EWF member Larry Dunn and former EWF musical director Morris Pleasure. At firs...

One of Western New York’s premiere instrumental performers, Jack Prybylski’s (purr-bill-ski) career as an award-winning saxophone player has included nine full-length recordings, endorsements, world travel and the opportunity to work with some of the most respected names in contemporary music.
Jack grew up in a suburb of Buffalo, New York and first got his hands on a saxophone when he was in the third grade. The young student cut his teeth on Chicago and the hot soul bands of the day like Earth, Wind and Fire. His musical explorations led from soul to jazz and influential players like Tom Scott and David Sanborn. After graduating from State University of New York at Buffalo, Jack would make a name for himself by paying his dues on the East Coast club scene.
Over the years Jack has been fortunate enough to further study saxophone with renowned jazz players David Leibman, Tim Price, David Schaivone and, former Buffalo Philharmonic bass clarinetist/saxophonist Edward Yadzinski. As a recording artist, he has released seven albums with Buffalo-based eclectic jazz group Them Jazzbeards, including the soundtrack for the motion picture Shadow Creature. As a performer, Jack has shared the stage with many of the top names in contemporary jazz including Richard Elliott, David Sanborn, The Rippingtons, and Spyro Gyra, and has performed with the prestigious Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
