  • Contender is the critically acclaimed second album from Stockholm based folk-rock & blues outfit Born 53. Anders Lindh’s and Hans Birkholz’s originals are complemented with interpretations of songs from Warren Zevon, Ray Davis and Bob Dylan. With the nucleus rock setting of two guitars and drums, the album presents a fresh sounding mix of rhythmically strong guitar driven melodies, layered with additional slideguitars and a lot of various string-instruments. The blues in the bands origins is more hinted at than accentuated and Lindh's lyrics (included in a booklet) are deeply personal, sometimes humorous, reflections on the human condition. Lindh's main vocals are supplemented by the voices of The Bomettes which adds an additional shine to the songs.
