A LIFE OF SYNTH
The synthesizer is our era's fantastic musical instrument. Its rich, varied tones enable us to travel through space and time, free from the associations to previous times which always limit traditional instruments in any attempt at creativity!
My adventures with the synth began back in the 1960s, when the studio acquired its ANDROMATIC, the world's oldest synth with polyphony and a sequencer. On this recording I've brought together personal and distinctive synthesizer compositions which all have spiritual aspects. They focus on humanity's place in time and space, and our longing for answers to impossible questions. But joy and laughter are also essential human qualities which must always be given space! Love for the future is found in PRELUDE TO THE FUTURE, and the unsteady progress of a rake in FUNSHINE ZERENADE can surely evoke both laughter and reflection? Where do we end up when we pass through the GATE OF TIME, and how will we feel in the future when we must “bury” a robot or android who has become our close friend?
Let the music titles indicate what direction to travel in, but feel free to let your imagination roam freely! The questions may be difficult but answers are often to be found in the music. Welcome to a journey through the spiritual landscape which is to be found within all of us!
