EN SE DE
  • This album has been three years in the making. The idea came about shortly after Scott joined JBB in late 2002. We wanted to make a record that was inspired by the militant rhythms of Sly & Robbie as well as the cutting edge dj tactics of Cut Chemist. The album would be recorded and mixed in Boston by Joshua Driscoll and would feature the awesome skills of our good friend Mr. Rourke. We did two late night sessions at Wellspring sound and then sent the tracks out to an army of talented musicians in and around Boston. Josh mixed 7 songs and then Scott took them in to Alex Perialis at Pyramid Sound in Ithaca for Mastering. We thought it was all ready to release when Josh's friend Chris Wilson at Heartbeat records remarked that we should do a few more sessions and compile a full length disk. Over the course of 2 or 3 more sessions (must have been the Jameson) we wrote and recorded about 12 more bass and drum grooves. The tracks were again dispensed to musicians and mixed by Josh. During this time Scott was diagnosed with Cancer. Throughout his battle he continued to champion the cause and share his vision for the Guvna Dub Sessions. It took a little while to get everything just right, but here it is! Scott, this is for you brother.

Thank you for the music, the friendship, and thank you for this record.

You will never be forgotten. - Tommy
