  • Featuring 15 new and original tracks, ‘Wake Up’ is written by the BurnDown All-Stars and produced by Dave Quicks (the All-Stars rhythm guitar player and lead vocalist), with four tracks co-produced with Tyrell “Blade” Wilkerson, Rocco “Rok Bottom” Rosini, Carlos “Carlito Attack” Brown, and Randall “JawnZap7” Quinn. In the role of producer Dave Quicks opted to not bring in many other musicians to work on the All-Stars songs (unlike the two previous BurnDown releases he produced Volume I “The Outside ConnectJawn” and Volume II) and ‘Wake Up’ features some of his most impressive work so far with only DJ KD (of Philly’s own Scratch Mechanics) making guest appearances on 5 tracks and Philly music legend and cello expert Larry Gold on the title track.”

  • A project born of the studio, the BurnDown All-Stars are a Philadelphia based live hip-hop collective featuring the city’s finest unsigned musicians and emcees. Beginning in early 2003 with the release of “BurnDown Presents…Volume 1, The Outside Connect Jawn,” the All-Stars slowly took form over the next two years. By early 2005, the present line up had solidified. With an ever-expanding repertoire of songs, performances have matured into an undeniable mix of musicianship, showmanship and lyrical virtuosity.
The current line-up includes Dave Quicks, bandleader and producer, on guitar and vocals along with long-time Philly stand-outs Tom Walling on drums and Rico Joseph on bass. Spitting over this unshakable framework are BurnDown originators and mainstays Kuf the Emcee, Rok Bottom and Carlito Attack, each boasting a unique style and perspective. But that’s only the beginning. In the last two years, five more emcees have joined the ranks. Syne and Arcane (also known as the Dialects), JawnZap7 and Lord Biz each made their BurnDown debut with the release of “BurnDown Presents…Volume 2” in spring 2005 and have become regular features in the live show. Add to the mix a rotating roster of impressive instrumentalists and DJ’s including DJ Cramske and guitarist Tom Copson, and you can begin to imagine the sheer force behind a BurnDown show.
BDAS are packing venues in Philadelphia on a regular basis now and are looking to break into new markets in the near future. Work also continues in the studio as the BurnDown emcees focus on a pure hip-hop record while Dave Quicks and the band strike the balance with a rock, soul venture called Dave Quicks’ BrainChild. Production for “Volume 3,” a fusion of these two definitive elements, begins this spring.
