Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHY SHOULD I BUY MP3s FROM YOU AND NOT USE P2P SERVICES?

A: By buying your music you support your favorite label/artist which enables them to produce more great songs for you to enjoy. All the tracks on this web site are encoded at a high bit rate to give you the best sound quality. Our MP3s have an average bit rate of around 200 kbps (mostly VBR), while the majority MP3s found on the illegal P2P networks are 128 kbps. Please note - An important issue with VBR is that MP3 players can often be misleading in the way they display the bitrate - most commonly giving an average for the whole track.

Also, all tracks sold by this web site has no DRM or copy protection built in. DRM is easily circumvented anyway and just puts obstacles in the way of enjoying music. We treat our customers with respect and do not automatically assume you are criminals. We know you're smart enough to understand that buying music, rather than stealing it, is the right way to go. Otherwise the artists will suffer, the labels will suffer, and eventually, you too will suffer.

Q: WHAT IS THE END USER AGREEMENT?

A: The End User Agreement is an agreement stating what you are buying and what you can and can not do with the tracks you buy. You only need to read and agree it the first time you buy.

Q: WHAT IS THE PRIVACY POLICY FOR THIS WEB SITE?

A:The Privacy Policy can be found here.

Q: WHY MP3?

A: Since the MP3 format is the most popular and videly spread format, which most players read, we have decided on selling the music as MP3s. It is the format that most people want at the moment. In the future we might be selling other formats as well (AAC, ogg, FLAC, 24bit WAV/AIFF) if people are requesting that.

Q: CAN I PREVIEW THE TRACKS BEFORE I BUY?

A: Of course you can. By clicking on 'Play' button next to a track a preview version of the track is loaded and you can start listening to a 30 second segment of the track. You can click any part of the track timeline to listen to a particular segment. This way you can listen to the whole track if you want. The preview player plays a low-quality (and quick-loading) 48kbps version of the final mp3 in mono. The sound quality of the bought and downloaded version is far better. Most people can't tell the difference from a CD.

Q: DOES IT MATTER WHERE I AM FROM?

A: As long as you have an OK internet connection and a fairly modern browser (Internet Explorer 6, Safari 1.0, Firefox 1.0) you can access and buy tracks from us anywhere in the world, whether you are using an Mac or a Windows based PC. If you have a fast connection with lots of bandwidth it will obvioulsy speed things up for you.

Q: CAN I DOWNLOAD FROM YOU WITH A 56K MODEM?

A: Sure you can but it will probably take you a very long time and thus make it not so interesting. But if you just got to have the track you just got to have it, right?

Q: IF THE SITE IS VERY BUSY, DOES IT SLOW DOWN DOWNLOADING?

A: At busy times downloading may take a little longer, but we have plenty of bandwidth in place, and will scale this up according to any increases in demand.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF I DOWNLOAD A TRACK WITH AN ERROR OR GLITCH?

A: You have to let us know immediately if that happens. There might be a problem with that file and we might need to replace it. Please e-mail us at support@klicktrack.com and tell us what's wrong and we will get you the correct file instead.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF A DOWNLOAD FAILS MIDWAY THROUGH?

A: Your order will remain on the download page so if you have not closed your browser just try and download again. If you need to retry a download after you've left the download page you can visit the 'Account' page. If there's any other problems please e-mail support@klicktrack.com

Q: WHERE IS MY DOWNLOAD ?!? I CAN'T FIND THE FILE(S)!

A: Some browsers (for example Safari) will automatically unzip your download. Look for a folder named after the artist.

Q: I DOWNLOADED THE MP3 AND MY COMPUTER THINKS IT'S AN EXCEL/TEXT/WORD/BIN FILE, WHY?

A: Some operating systems can't handle long file names. When the MP3 is downloaded, it shortens the filename and loses the .mp3 extension. This leaves your computer unable to know how to handle the file, so it often makes a guess (hence thinking it's an Excel or Word file). If you rename the MP3, adding the extension .mp3 it should work fine.

Q: WHAT IF I ACCIDENTALLY DELETE A SONG FROM MY HARD DRIVE?

A: Once you have successfully downloaded a track, the transaction is completed and the file becomes your responsibility. Make sure you backup your purchases! There is no restriction how many personal backups you can make.

Q: PAYING OVER THE INTERNET, IS IT SAFE?

A: Some people are a bit hesitant about leaving out their credit card number over the Internet. This web site uses a technology called SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) which allows your order data to be sent over the internet encrypted and impossible to 'steal'!

Q: ARE MY ACCOUNT DETAILS REALLY PRIVATE?

A: Your account is completely private. We do not give your e-mail address to any third parties, and you will receive no promotional mailouts from us unless you wish to subscribe to our or Klicktrack MDT newsletters.

Q: HOW CAN I PAY?

A: You can currently pay via credit or debit card (VISA/MasterCard).
