  • A Giant Revival of melodic doom metal in the mid 90’s UK style (early Anathema, My Dying Bride, Theatre of Tragedy) but with an actual modern overview

    The beginning of Ixion dates back to 2004, when Julien Prat decided to form an atmospheric doom metal project featuring a lot of ambient soundscapes and electronic and orchestral elements combined to a melodic doom. Thomas Saudray joins the project in 2006 to work on vocals and lyrics with Julien. The demo “Through the space we die” is released in the autumn 2007 and is very well reviewed in numerous webzines and in Hard Rock Magazine (Fr). The ambition is to go further into the atmosphere that the demo has introduced, intensifying contrasts in the music, and to improve the production. Julien finishes to compose the album in 2008. After the recording and programming of all instruments, an important work starts on the vocals in july 2009: the band gets down to the writing of lyrics, both original texts and quotes from dark works of poetry and literature
    which perfectly colour the concept and music of the album.
    As the band needs a voice for clean vocals, Yannick Dilly joins the project in september. The trio goes well and experiments a lot during the recording sessions, making the music even more varied and intense emotionally. Artworks are conceived during the spring with the help of the designer Hubert Griffe who creates a typography for the album and a logo for the band.
